What Could be the One World Religion, Part One

Discussion

While you and I live some place specifically, for instance I live within the continental United States of America, we also engage much of our lives globally. For instance, thanks to such software inventions as email, text messaging, chats, blogs, social media, phones, we can now instantly communicate with one or more people from all over the world simultaneously. Thus, for many, having a ‘global’ etiquette, even language [yes even emoji’s] culture has been born and in many ways groomed by design to corral all users thereof to adhere to a somewhat skewed etiquette requisite that in some cases will impinge and influence an individual in one part of the world while freeing another altogether. Here in the USA, we currently enjoy the theoretical idea of Constitutional Rights among them the freedom of speech, of religion, of press, assembly and redress of grievances with our Government. Germane to this article, most notably the idea of free speech and free press as used within the manifold global communications machine. [If you'd like to discuss the US Constitutional as theoretical I will do a post from that position.]

In most cases, anyone can hang out and communicate without it infringing on one’s personal rights, freedoms, beliefs or cultural mores. But what happens when for instance, some ideology runs head on into the Global GroupThink that has now rooted and permeated nearly every level of life in most places all around the globe? What happens when someone says something in response to another and the other finds that speech objectionable on any number of grounds? What if what is written here, total opinion, though more than casually researched, is considered ‘hate’ speech/press because of the topic? Perhaps the arguments tendered here – again, merely opinion – causes someone ‘dis-ease’ [though as to cults oft times it is a case of ‘dissonance’] and they demand punitive measures against an opinion expressed? Freedom of press is a right in the country this article originates as is freedom of speech and yes, religion. How do we ever change our opinion, or better, shore up our opinion with confidence if not for opposing thoughts and discussions? To simply eradicate something or someone because you don’t like what is said destroys the foundation of honest communication.

For the intent and purposes of this article I proffer this idea: What if the notion referenced ‘One World Religion’ turns out to be a secular entity? Perhaps a definition of ‘religion’ may be advantageous. Merriam-Webster online Dictionary in the first definition of religion: “a body of beliefs and practices regarding the supernatural and the worship of one or more deities” under ‘Synonyms of Religion’ “credo, creed, cult, faith, persuasion” and under ‘Words Related to Religion’ “church, communion, denomination, sect, doctrine, dogma, theology, deism, heathenism, monotheism, pantheism, polytheism, theism.” 

If we were to drill down to a synonym of religion, i.e., ‘cult’ and then to a word related to religion, i.e., ‘dogma’ we would be able to classify any number of ideologies that stand as a sort of ‘religion’.

Now let’s define ‘religious’: In Merriam-Webster online Dictionary under definition #3: “having or expressing great depth of feeling”. Under ‘Synonyms of Religious’ “ardent, blazing, burning, charged, demonstrative, emotional, fervent, fervid, feverish,fiery, flaming, glowing, hot-blooded, impassioned, incandescent, intense, passional,passionate, perfervid, red-hot, superheated, torrid, vehement, warm, warm-blooded”. ‘Words Related to Religious’ “ gushing, gushy, maudlin, mawkish, mushy, saccharine, sappy, schmaltzy, sentimental,sloppy, sugary

histrionic, melodramatic enthusiastic, gung ho, keen, zealous, enamored, infatuated, obsessed, uninhibited, unreserved, unrestrained, frenzied, orgiastic, overemotional, overexcited, overheated”.

It is an interesting exercise to integrate some of the Orwellian vernacular of his work of fiction, "1984"  as we review the topic of ‘Climate Change’ now in its next/latest iteration for the sake of tightening the grip of fear in the masses: ‘Climate Crisis’. For instance, in the book “1984” George Orwell creates a fictional entity: INGSOC. It is the acronym for ‘English Socialist Party’ the political party for the fictional government of ‘Oceania’. Let’s follow some of the 1984 patterns that have evolved over the past decades and has now reached a fevered pitch in the topic of Climate Change/crisis

Concurrent with the study of similar patterns to a fictional novel let’s also frame this in the context of ‘religion’ -- albeit a secular form. Did you know from the mid to latter portion of 20^th century worship of the ‘earth’ began. It is cloaked in ‘environmental’ concerns, but the first step was to idolize the earth initiated via Federal representation in the person of a US Senator who founded the first official Earth Day, April 1970. During this same time frame, the notion of  ‘Mother Nature’ was introduced to the pop culture here in the US. Many alive today still use the phrase ‘It is not nice to fool Mother Nature’. Yet, the concept of worshipping mother nature/mother earth is ancient. If you research mythology you will find such mythical entities as Gaia, Venus, to name two well known, both of whom have worship attach to them. Thus, a secular/quasi-religious belief was born.

As time has progressed, the passion for the environment that was very strong for decades gave way to climate warming but when the natural cycle of the earth’s climate hit a cold spell that lasted for a few years, then the fomenters of climate concerns adapted their ‘groupthink newspeak’ by changing the name to the previous iteration: ‘climate change’. [New phraseology is Climate Crisis] However, the fervor always attached to the environmental/earth day folks was reignited. With the name change their ‘god’ and its dogma became immune to the assault of time. The natural cyclical changes of heat/cold [or as we have come to recognize El Nino/La Nina] will not expose the folly the climate crisis heralds -- who bark ‘climate change/crisis’ so radically [the new version of INGSOC/Oceania] -- because it has become woven into every fabric of life. In fact, it has taken on such momentum a cultish following has emerged and is on pace to become a full-fledged global religion. It won’t be what has been understood as traditional religion. Remember, all traditions have been masterfully vilified and rendered toxic to those who would keep them resulting in immediate punishment for a ‘thought crime’ because to ‘deny’ any or all portions of the doctrine of climate change/crisis is to be labeled and maltreated. Orwell anticipated a psychological and strategic anarchistic rebellion called ‘hate week’ that began a campaign to increase hatred for anyone who opposes the cult. In the past few months the reality of this fictional practice has danced across news media in the form of outing anyone [called doxxing in groupthink/called Blackwhite in 1984 fiction] shaming them, punishing them through boycott, through mob action towards the victim of the fictional ‘Blackwhite’ party in its actual real life versions, even via mass deadly violence either as a martyr or as a strategic public demonstration of strong faith and allegiance to the groupthink. Manifestos by murderers have whole sections devoted to the cause of ‘climate change/crisis’.

To this point, we have identified a cultural phenomenon that is more than a cause du jour because it has outlasted previous ‘fads’ that have been popular. This cause has been finely honed to reach deep into the global culture and deep into the psyches of persons from as young as preschoolers through the final day of college into the work place, into the community, into even the home you live in [search Agenda 21] and now the latest -- trying to force people to eat no meat because? Climate. There is no place ‘climate’ cult is not living in the lives of most everyone on earth. It’s global in its influence and in many places as forced compliance. It’s reverenced in its ascribed doctrine [though many would say dogma] proclaiming and prophesying global annihilation in as little as a decade from now if you listen to the crusaders of this religion. Fear tactics are not absent in this version of  ‘climate Armageddon’. Their evangelists include elementary school aged kids truant from school to protest until something is done. Of course, you cannot turn a huge ship right now like you can a bicycle, so they had to return to school. The little ones are too young to know the last prediction/prophesy of global destruction came and went and we’re all still here [and they were actually born after the last failed doctrine] for Climate Armageddon 2.0. As stated, time is the enemy of false prophesy.

Are you starting to see how an actual secular religion has been carefully crafted? Has its hierarchy. Has its zealots. Has its missionaries. Has its evangelists [an enthusiastic advocate]? Its list of benefits if you willingly comply and of course its list of ways you can be punished if you do not. They have secular words that parallel religious words. --> See part two for the discussion of this world religion’s internal dialogue that propagates the belief system.   

There is a point to all of this. Bottom line, GOD created the earth and everything in, under, above and on it that is natural. Please review Job Chapter 38 in its entirety. If you have any doubt that GOD is in control of everything regarding earth [including its weather and environment] after reading that chapter then you are definitely the kind of disciple this one world religion wants to groom. But know this: If you are a Christian there is a prophesy you should be very aware of and take under advisement: 2 Thess 2:1-12. Read it; pray on it; meditate on it. The idea that you might fall for a false god-idol/doctrine and practice worship of the same is outlined in detail in 2 Thess. It is not where a Christian would want to be.

CAVEAT: This is an opinion page. The author has merely laid out parallels between religion, fiction and reality. There are Christian pastors who would dispute that the ‘one world religion’ could not be secular because of the Antichrist and what the Antichrist is expected -- through interpreted prophesy – to do. Fact is, they are likely right on in their belief mostly because of what the Bible says will impress Christians around the world to believe the Antichrist is Christ returned by à power, signs and lying wonders according to the working of Satan. [from 2 Thess 2:9] Those pastors also believe during the middle of the coming tribulation this antichrist will take up residence and attempt to rule the earth as a god from the newly erected and dedicated Jewish Temple [not yet done though all the implements from prior temples have been remade and are ready for the Temple] which would lend itself to a ‘religious’ interpretation. I accept their strongly held and developed stand according to the Bible.  I would say, according to Bible book of Job and the concessions between GOD and Satan – in chapters 1 & 2 -- as well as the interrogatories of Job by GOD, the strong likelihood exists that the power, signs and lying wonders could very well be climate/environmental. [Remember some of the Plagues of Exodus were recreated by Pharaoh's magicians.] If you look at what is coming up during the tribulation and the latter part, the great tribulation, the environment and its affect on humans is the focus of the ‘troubled times’ when except for the chosen ones no flesh would be saved. Again, this is just opinion. Now to part two, the distinctive corollary religious vernacular. †

Let’s distill this down to our current cultural news regarding the topic of “Climate Change/Crisis”. Let’s bring in some points of reference linguistically that helps to focus on how Climate Change/Crisis has gone from a notion, to a discussion, to legislation, to mandate to isolation of those with differing opinions on the ‘Climate Change/Crisis’ to Newspeak? To be less than confusing, as we discuss the next idea, we should acknowledge the existence of ‘doublespeak’ which suggests that like today, when one says love it now means hate; when they say freedom is slavery. If you haven’t been following the news of late, good for you! But if you have, trying to keep up with all the daily PC changes and culturally ACCEPTABLE vernacular not only keeps your head spinning, in some cases – depending on where you live -- it can turn your private life upside down and even land you in jail!

Before we delve further into our discussion, maybe now would be a great time to list out the similarities in practices, beliefs and actions of this secular religion to an actual ‘religion’ proving it can be either religious OR secular. A similar secular-like-religion is the ‘theory of evolution’. If you look at its history, it progressed from an early progenitor, Charles Darwin, with his book “On the Origin of Species” to the various professionals like Scientists, Educators, etc., who eventually all participated introducing into the culture. To this day it is argued still among some religions. It is taught as ‘fact’ and many accept it without question. It too has a cultish following but because evolution has become ‘accepted’ by many it no longer enjoys the fervor it once did just a few decades ago. But it is an example of a secular religion with many devotees in all walks of life influencing common sense right out of the equation among the masses. Could Climate Change/Crisis devotees be ever as fervent in a cultish way as were the initial evolutionary crowd?

Let’s consider some of the verbiage and the similarities in how a ‘religious cult’ responds to non or former adherents and the secular religion of Climate Change/Crisis:   

a.     Mandatory Group inclusion ß How is the denial of belief in Climate Change being dealt with? In January 2019 the following article indicates that denial is a ‘mental process’ and has ‘mental health’ aspects but, why? According to a group from ‘Dalla Lane School of Public Health at the University of Toronto: “The overarching threats of a changing climate, can also incite despair and hopelessness as actions to address the ‘wicked problem’ of climate change seem intangible or insignificant in comparison to the scale and magnitude of the threats." Please take the time to read the entire article and take notice from which ‘bias’ the article is emphatically written. Do research. Check out some of the pundits on Social Media and see what is being said and folded into the culture as they cement this new cult of belief. For some assistance compare the ‘ideas’ held within religious cults with similar held ‘ideas’ about climate change.

                                                                              xii.      Climate Change/Crisis recognize secular authorities -- with whom they agree -- as the final arbiter of all things Climate Change/Crisis

How do you, the Christian, respond to the Climate Change/Crisis phenomenon? Many people are concerned about the environment. In fact, it is the responsibility of all believing Christians to shoulder their fair share of stewardship in all aspects of life. We live ‘clean’ lives thus not trashing our environment, health, finances, families, etc. However, a proper understanding of who actually ‘owns the earth and is ultimately responsible for it is key to balance where our environment is concerned. The Psalmist recorded the following: “[[A Psalm of David.]] The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” – Psa 24:1  

More directly, there are scriptures where interrogatory statements are asked of different ones, like Job, to ascertain whether they had any part in the creation or control of any or all the components of creation. Read these interrogatories in Job chapters 38-41. As a Christian who is a Bible believing individual this is a no brainer. The GOD who created our Universe, our solar system, our earth who established limitations, systems, etc., so that humankind can set their whole lives on TIME because it is so consistent; who understands how the earth, the solar system and the Universe all work wondrously together because science has studied and established data supporting it. Does that Christian then believe GOD who maintains our very sustenance of life is incapable of controlling the climate? Is humankind so arrogant as to believe they and they are alone are the only one who can ‘fix’ a problem they believe will lead to the destruction of all life in 10-12 years from now? 

What of the plans of GOD and what HE has foreordained for our future and the future of earth? Is it not eloquently addressed with hope and beauty? Is not this statement from of old: “Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.” – Isa 64:4 reaffirmed in the ‘new’ “However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love him—” – 1 Cor 2:9? If we can imagine it we will still be amazed because what is in store ‘no human mind has conceived’. Imagine this form of old: “ See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” – Isa 65:17 -- and this from the new: “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.” – Rev 21:1 Are you getting the point? The Christian has faith and believes in the promises and prophecies of GOD’S WORD, the Holy Bible. We are not dependent on the latest gloom and doom cultish trend for our future! Those who have built their Climate Change/Crisis tower high up into the clouds seeking to reside where GOD resides are experiencing the same ‘confusion’ the first tower builders experience. In fact, they have adapted that confusion into its own language hence their alleged number one reason for all things bad ‘Climate Change/Crisis’. It is the name of their tower, it seeks to dominate all of the earth and everything/one on it and it seeks full submission to it from all humankind or ‘dire’ consequences now and in the future will or  ‘could’ befall YOU!

As a cautionary reminder: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, “ – Exodus 20:2-5   

Please do not be induced by cultural pressure to adopt the idol god of earth worship as it is known today by its contemporary name ‘Climate Change/Crisis’. Please have faith in GOD and HIS promises and prophecies. Please exercise common sense in your day to day life to always show love and appreciation for the precious gift of life here on our earth home ß not our final destination!

In answer to the question, ‘Could this be the One World Religion?’, this author has to defer to the future and the actual fulfillment of Bible Prophecy. Could this be included, could it be a predicate in the eventual designation of a global religion, perhaps. What we must do is remain awake, alert, and vigilant in our study of GOD’s Word, of our understanding of Biblical signs regarding the fulfillment of various prophecies, and most definitely in our Prayer that GOD’s Will be done on earth as it is in Heaven while letting the future unfold with childlike wonder in our hearts. 

UPDATED: PS, Effective September 2019 Hurricane descriptors have been changed. What has more appropriately been the norm are descriptors like ‘destructive’ and ‘powerful’ even with a scale of wind speed as the potency of the power. But, with Hurricane Dorian, the area around the eye was described as ‘violent’ and the power of the storm likewise. Yet, Dorian is still being rated as a specific category based on wind speed while nonetheless being described as ‘violent’. To be fair, the dictionary does allow the use of violent as an adjective for powerful or forceful causing damage but when has it been used regarding storms like tornadoes or hurricanes unless the resulting damage has been way beyond the usual. For instance, Hurricane Katrina could have had the use of ‘violent’ because it was devastating not as much because of the storm alone but the additional force of surging water placed the levy system at such risk it failed to maintain normal operations and flooded whole neighborhoods leaving them uninhabitable even after the usual clean up time for most of this devastation. Again, in Houston 2017, Hurricane Harvey was very destructive because the Hurricane and after storm rains continued without let up for weeks. Violent was not the descriptor used for these more notorious storms. AND, let us not forget, the ‘belief’ system of Climate Change/Crisis doesn’t include the weather except when they want to ‘prove’ how the climate has changed and the weather is responding. Now it is acceptable belief durimg the 2020 presidential campaign things like crime rates, drug abuse, and naturally occurring forest fires are also now associated with Climate Change. Beware of the not so subtle incursion into our cultural language based in the secular religion of Climate Change/Crisis of uncharacteristic terminology used not ever before associated with things but definitely couched into the discussion for maximum effect AND affect! The goal is not unlike the Star Trek creation of the ‘Borg’. DO NOT RESIST. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED! But, as Christians, should we?
